WHO ARE WE?
A Safe Space is a collection of highly skilled and experienced investigators and Safety Professionals who are adept at identifying the cause, process and effects of an event and can help resolve and/or prevent another similar event.
A Safe Space is an unbiased external support for workplaces. We focus on supporting employers with compliance, finding solutions to problems, repairing workplace relationships, and conducting both harassment and incident investigations. Our investigators are critical thinkers with incredible attention to detail, emotional control, and ethics.
Susan Boan and Kevin Huber:
Kevin in his spare time, is an exotic sheep farmer. Susan is passionate about animals and is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
Susan and Kevin have a combined experience of over 50 years of providing workplace harassment, violence, conflict, mental health and addictions expertise.
Susan and Kevin have held a variety of roles, including Corrections and Public Safety- Deputy Director, Training and Personnel Manager, Hostage negotiators, and Critical Incident Stress (CISM) facilitators. Both have held the position of the Provincial Lead with the Occupational Health and Safety Harassment Prevention Unit (Kevin 2007- 2009, Susan- 2009- 2021), as well as several other Provincial, Municipal and Private Industry positions. Educational background includes Human Resources, Psychology, Justice Studies, Conflict Resolution, Administrative Justice, Labour Relations and so much more.
Kalvin Coleman:
With over 20 years in workplace safety, Kalvin Coleman has seen it all—and helped teams through most of it. From high-risk operations to day-to-day safety challenges, Kalvin brings a calm, confident presence and a practical mindset that helps people reimagine what safety can be.
He’s worked at every level—from the floor to the front office—and knows how to connect with workers and leaders alike. His approach blends field-tested tools like TapRooT® and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) with modern leadership insights to deliver training, consultations, and incident support that stick.
Kalvin’s not here to enforce safety—he’s here to build it with you. One system at a time. One conversation at a time.
